How-to: Media Buttons On Your Side Bar

Hey everyone! Don't you love my fantastic new media buttons on the right hand side of my blog?

I DO!!! They look so slick and stylish! soooooo much better than all those separate links that I had for each media platform. Want to know how I did it? It was soooooo sooooo sooooo easy! I used a fantastic tutorial (link HERE) written by My Hobby is Crochet. Are you familiar with her WEBSITE? You should be. She just started blogging and she is amazing! To see more of her work you can find her on FACEBOOK as well.

Go show her some love, you will be amazed at how easy it is for you to make your own media buttons. She even gives you the HTML and tells you how to edit it!

One thing that I learned fast is that you cannot use Microsoft Word to edit it. For some strange, unknown reason it edits, takes away and adds text and screws it all up - royally! Just don't do it!!! I used Microsoft Notepad and it worked fine. The only other strange hick-up that may have just been me is when I copied and pasted my HTML link for the photos from Photobucket, Photobucket added a little extra text that effected the way that the buttons look.

Here is a look at the end of the HTML for my picture the way that it comes from Photobucket (the naughty part is highlighted). [Note this is not the full line of text! Just the end for you to see where the error is.]:

And here is what is should look like (minus the highlighted part):

Just make sure your text ends with png and you should be fine. I hope that this is helpful to any of you new budding bloggers. I am such a dunce when it comes to HTML but it was pretty satisfying to get it to finally work out and see my pretty fantastic buttons on the side of my blog, and, bonus, they all worked exactly like they were supposed to!!! WOOT WOOT!!! :D

Go visit My Hobby Is Crochet and let her know what you think of her button tutorial. She is so nice and totally willing to help you with any hick-ups you have. I never would have figured out some of the weird things that were happening without her help.
Have a great Wednesday!
Be Happy!
