Crochet-a-long coming May 12

I am so so so super excited about this! This will be my first time hosting a crochet-a-long for one of my patterns and I can't wait to get started! Starting in a week we will be making my newest afghan pattern together, the Vertical Textures Afghan.

The crochet-a-long will begin on Monday, May 12, 2014. I will be releasing one stripe pattern a week for 4 weeks. The first three stripes you will need to make 2 of. I realize that this may be a little fast paced for some but all the posts will remain on the blog so you can work at your own pace. I don't want to drag this out forever.

I am going to be donating the Vertical Textures Afghan I just completed to The Precious Angel's Society. I know not all of you will choose to do this with me but I wanted to get you familiar with them. They are a wonderful group that was created to gift a blanket to parents who have lost a child. I can only imagine the grief that these mothers face. If an afghan can provide some comfort I am more then willing to do my part. If you choose to donate your afghan you can find all of the information you need HERE on their Facebook page, just click on the "about" section. When the crochet-a-long is over I am going to release this same pattern in a smaller, receiving blanket size if you would like to wait and make that up and donate that blanket I know it will also be greatly appreciated.

Here are your yarn estimates so you can get shopping and decide what colors you want to make your Vertical Textures Afghan in.

worsted weight yarn
Color A (blue) - 1,110 yrds
Color B (pink) - 1,480 yrds
Color C (white) - 370 yrds

Gauge swatch is worked in sc BLO:
14 sts x 12 rows = 4" x 3"

K hook

Here is the Vertical Textures Afghan layed straight out across my couch so you can see the changes in stripes a little better. I hope you will join in with us. It is going to be loads of fun.  And this really is the perfect afghan to make in warmer months to gift when it is chillier. It is worked in separate stripes and then joined together at the end. The only time you are under the entire afghan is when you are adding the border.

I can't wait to see every one's pictures! I am going to have a photo album set up in my group on Facebook and a category in my group on Google+ so please join us there too if you can.

Feel free to share this post via Pinterest, Google +, Twitter, Facebook, where ever you like so that more people can join in the fun!

Be Happy!
