Urban Reflection CAL Week 4: Border and Blocking

Urban Reflection CAL Announced

Hey fellow crocheters! I know, I know, I have been super lax about releasing patterns lately. In March we became a family of 6! Life continues to change and we have been changing along with it. With two kids in school now, their activities and two others to care for at home it has been hard to keep up with all things crochet and turning out patterns. I so very much appreciate your understanding and support for me being what matters most to me, a mom first. You are always so kind about the breaks I take and then so excited when I'm able to come back with a new pattern. I love you all so much for that!

I hope you're excited to see the entire Urban Reflection design. Are you ready? Here it is!!!!

This post contains affiliate links/ads, which means that if you click on one I will receive a small commission. These commissions are either put to use for this blog to bring you more great content or to support my children in their activities such as dance and sports. Thank you for your support! For more information please see my disclosures page.

I hope that you will all be as excited as I am about the Urban Reflection Wrap. The Urban Reflection Wrap can be worn as a shawl draped over your shoulders or held around your back and over your arms, as a wrap secured tightly around your shoulders or even as a scarf. It is worked along the bias which is what gives the stitches that slant. When designing the Urban Reflection Wrap I used two contrasting colorways and created a stripe pattern for the first colorway which is reflected in the other colorway and they blend together from opposite ends of the wrap.

The Urban Reflection Wrap will be released as a crochet-a-long (CAL). I am so so excited about this! I combined forces with a long time crochet friend, Katy from KT and the Squid to bring this to you. She created the colorways and dyed the fabulous yarn that I used. Isn't it GORGEOUS?!??! I told her what colors I was thinking and she brought them to life. It's just absolutely stunning and completely yummy to work with! Katy also did all the the photos for me. I wanted to give her a big shout out for that. Time was winding down and I was finding it really challenging to get out and get pictures and she offered to do them for me. Life saver!!!! (Plus she is much more experienced in photography then I am and these turned out way better then they would have with me. Again, life saver! Thanks Katy!)

This post will have all the information you need to join us in the Urban Reflection CAL. Are you ready for all the deets? Here we go!

The Urban Reflection CAL will begin October 19, 2018.
That gives you the next few weeks to order your yarn from KT and the Squid and for it to ship to you. Also if you are in the middle of a project you absolutely must finish you hopefully can wrap that up and then join us!

We will host the Urban Reflection CAL in my newly opened Facebook Group. I am so excited to be able to be present in the group with you all and offer help, tips and guidance as we go along. Not to mention I hope you will all post progress and finished pictures as we go! I can't wait to see all these beautiful wraps come together! There are 3 simple questions to answer and I will get you approved as quickly as I can!

The pattern will be posted here on the blog, but as is the option with all my free patterns, there will be an option to buy the PDF on Ravelry if you prefer. The PDF will be available on October 19th as well. If you purchase the PDF you will have the entire pattern all at once.

The Urban Reflection CAL will run as follows:
Week 1 Check gauge
Week 2 Work first 1/2 of Urban Reflection wrap
Week 3 Work second 1/2 of Urban Reflection wrap
Week 4 Border, blocking and GIVEAWAY

Yes, you read that right, there will be a GIVEAWAY at the end of the Urban Reflection CAL. The winner will be drawn from those who have completed the CAL.

Fingering Weight
Color A - 437 yrds
Color B - 437 yrds
Here is where you get to go shopping!!! You will need two different colorways and each colorway should be at least 437 yrds. Katy has worked up 3 different colorways for the Urban Reflection CAL on her Squid Sock base which is 75% superwash merino and 25% nylon. They are all stunning! I want to make another wrap in another colorway!

Urban Reflection

She is also providing a 10% discount for those participating in the Urban Reflection CAL! I know, she's amazing! Enter URBAN10 at check out. You can purchase yarn from KT and the Squid by clicking HERE! All orders must be placed by October 5th. Don't wait and don't forget your coupon code!!! URBAN10

Jimmy Beans Wool now also offers yarn sets for this pattern. You can see them HERE!

Oh, also, let's just say maybe none of these colors are grabbing you. All Katy's ready to ship yarn is on sale! Seriously go check it out!

The wrap measures 72 inches x 10 inches and is one size fits most, if you would like to make it longer or wider that will effect the yardage and I am not at this time able to help you do those calculations. You are of course welcome to make alterations, just be aware that you may need to purchase more yarn  in order to complete the Urban Reflection Wrap. This yardage is also based on gauge. We will go over checking gauge in the CAL. I understand that it is a wrap, not a fitted garment, and gauge isn't crucial because you may not be concerned about finished size. If however you are concerned about not running out of yarn I highly recommend checking your gauge for this project.

I am so excited to get working on this with you! I hope you come join the Facebook Group so we can all work on it together. I'll be posting about it on Instagram @stringwithstyle so you can keep in touch with me there as well and ask questions if you need some support. These weeks will pass quickly so don't wait to order your yarn. Let's all be ready to go on the 19th!

Talk with you soon!

Be Happy,

Chevron Love Afghan

Let's get ready to CHEVROOOON!!! Woohoo!!! This pattern has been tested and is now ready for you to all enjoy! It's actually pretty simple. I think you all will be pleasantly impressed. I had so much fun making this afghan. I haven't made one in about 5 yrs. I got into a slump and between this chevron afghan and another that has me busy currently, I have come back into the world of afghans! I LOVE making them again! : D HOORAY! Also, for me, it was so fun and refreshing to be making this in boy colors. I have two girls so it isn't often that I get to play around with blues and greens and it was so so much fun! Infinity Hooded Scarf

Ok friends, I know that I have been promising this pattern for a while on FB. Hope it was worth the wait! {Fingers crossed} This is an infinity scarf which means it is made in one continuous circle. {No weird awkward ends to tuck in somewhere!} In this version I have attached a hood for extra warmth in the wind, rain, and snow that come with fall and winter. The nice thing about this particular pattern is that you have the option of making it with and without the hood. They are worked separately and then attached. The scarf looks beautiful both ways. Enough talking - lets get hooking!! Infinity Hooded Scarf This pattern has been sold to All Free Crochet and can be found HERE . Bobble Car Seat Blanket

This is a gift EVERY new mother needs! How many times have you been leaving the store, bags in one hand, baby carrier in the other and up blows the wind? Trying to shield the baby and keep the blanket on them without dropping all your bags can be one challenging balance act for even the most talented contortionist! Or there is the ever so simple problem of the active child that kicks off every blanket that you place over them. NO MORE! This blanket is specifically designed to be locked into the car seat without adding extra bulk under the straps that can jeopardize the safety of the baby.   It has two slits in the blanket that allow you to slip the bottom lock of the car seat through the blanket and then strap the child underneath it. The blanket is designed to fit right over the car seat without extra length hanging off the edges and the bobbled stitches give your little one something to touch and feel. So let's get started!! : ) This is the perfect baby shower gift and
